The Bridge Church – Brooklyn, NY

About the Planter

I’m James T. Roberson III, and after a long stint away from home – 19 years to be exact -my family and I are back in New York to fulfill God’s call and be a part of what He is doing in this city. The Lord has instilled in me a tremendous passion for His Word and His people. I have been called to share His love in the urban setting, and in my heart, I knew some day I would return to New York to spread the Gospel. In December 2012, the Lord began to make His call on our lives a tangible reality. He has led us to Brooklyn, NY to plant The Bridge Church.

Our Vision

We are so passionate about seeing the mission come about that we have established some goals that only God could fit into. Our hope is to plant churches in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, and Westchester by 2020. We therefore envision a movement of church planting, not just one church, covering the entire New York City Metro area.

About the Church/Area

Our Mission...is to transform the city by making disciples.

Transform: We believe that God calls the church to be a change agent in any community that it is placed in. The message of The Gospel is, Christ saves sinners. In light of that, we steward a message that radically changes lives. We will therefore preach, teach and train people to live out its implications in their neighborhoods.

The City: When we think city, we think lots of people from all walks of life — ethnically, culturally, and financially diverse. Jesus was notorious for having a variety of networks made up of all types of people. To that end, we not only want to be in the city, we want to look like the city — ethnically, culturally, and financially diverse.

Disciples: For three of His years on earth, Jesus’ primary focus was 12 men. He would teach, live with, and serve with these men in order for them to do what He had done. In fact, He said the work they did would be greater than His own (John 14:12). As a church, we cannot miss this mark.

How to Get Involved

  • That we don’t neglect to commune with God and to love our wives and families in these busy times.
  • For wisdom in the building stages of the church as we choose leaders.
  • That the building would not distract us from our mission to spread the gospel.
  • Share this church plant with people you know
  • Visit our beautiful city in small teams while being intentional about living the gospel.
  • Send teams to help prayerwalk and do mission work.
  • Give to the Co-operative program and the Annie Armstrong offering.
  • Consider making a financial gift directly to the church plant.
